Identity verification and passwordless authentication company 1Kosmos has secured $57 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding to over $72 million including a previous $15 million Series A round.
The Series B round was led by Forgepoint Capital and Origami Capital’s Oquirrh Ventures, with participation from investors including Carahsoft founder Craig Abod, NextEra Energy Ventures, and Gula Tech Adventures. The funding package includes a $10 million line of credit from Bridge Bank.
1Kosmos provides a platform that combines identity proofing, credential verification, and passwordless multi-factor authentication. The technology uses live biometrics and phishing-resistant authentication to protect digital interactions while maintaining user privacy. The company has earned several key certifications, including NIST 800-63-3 compliance and FedRAMP High authorization, making it appropriate for high-security government applications.
The company has identified emerging cybersecurity challenges, particularly noting attacks by groups like Scattered Spider and North Korean “shadow IT employees” that exploit social engineering and fake credentials to compromise account recovery processes through IT service desks. Such threats have become increasingly sophisticated, with recent incidents showing the vulnerability of traditional help desk authentication methods.
With the new funding, 1Kosmos plans to expand its engineering team, enhance integrations with identity and access management platforms, and grow its presence across North America, EMEA, and APAC markets to meet rising enterprise demand for identity-first security solutions. The expansion follows the company’s significant growth in 2021, when it tripled its customer base.
The company’s founders and team members participated in the funding round with personal capital investments. 1Kosmos reports achieving 3x revenue growth and holds FedRAMP High authorization and NIST 800-63-3 certification. The company earned recognition as a leader by KuppingerCole’s 2025 Leadership Compass and received top marks in Presentation Attack Detection level 2 certification, joining an elite group of vendors with advanced biometric security capabilities.
Recent developments include a new Microsoft partnership for External Authentication Methods to Entra ID and a Login.gov blanket purchase agreement through Carahsoft valued at up to $194.5 million, positioning the company to play a significant role in federal identity verification initiatives.
