BGF has invested £30 million in Romania-based TMT ID to accelerate the company’s growth in identity and fraud-prevention services, with particular emphasis on expanding its U.S. footprint. TMT ID, which describes itself as a mobile data and identity-intelligence provider, serves more than 260 clients across technology, financial services, insurance, and e-commerce.
The company aggregates mobile-network-derived signals across more than 200 countries and territories, covering an estimated three billion phone numbers and performing over 100 million checks per day. Those signals feed use cases such as real-time identity verification, SIM-swap and port-out detection, step-up authentication, and risk scoring, and support compliance needs around age verification and online safety obligations introduced in the UK in 2025.
BGF notes that TMT ID’s overall business grew roughly thirty percent year-over-year, with identity and fraud-prevention revenue up around eighty percent. Founded in 2016 by John Wilkinson and Fergal Parkinson, TMT ID expanded its technical capabilities with the 2023 acquisition of Phronesis Technologies. As part of the investment, industry veteran David Quantrell will join the board as non-executive chair.
