HID Global has unveiled a comprehensive enterprise authentication solution featuring new FIDO-certified hardware authenticators and an Enterprise Passkey Management (EPM) platform. The solution helps organizations implement passwordless security at scale using FIDO-certified credentials, building on the company’s previous FIDO2 implementations in smart cards and security keys.

The newly introduced FIDO-certified hardware authenticators are designed to deliver phishing-resistant authentication capabilities for enterprise environments. These devices implement passwordless login functionality in accordance with FIDO2 standards, combining enhanced security with improved user experience. The hardware authenticators use the FIDO2 WebAuthn protocol, which enables strong authentication using biometrics or security keys for web service access.

Central to the new offering is the Enterprise Passkey Management platform, which enables organizations to manage FIDO credentials across their operations. The EPM platform addresses key challenges in passwordless authentication adoption by providing capabilities for deployment, lifecycle management, and credential recovery. The advancement comes as enterprise adoption of passkeys continues to grow, with recent research indicating a 20 percent adoption rate among organizations.

The launch extends HID’s FIDO portfolio strategically, building upon the company’s WorkforceID platform and responding to increasing market demand for robust authentication methods that reduce password dependence. By combining hardware authenticators with the management platform, the solution provides enterprises with the infrastructure needed to transition toward passwordless environments.

The development matches current industry trends favoring passwordless authentication methods. Research from the FIDO Alliance has demonstrated the effectiveness of FIDO credentials in mitigating phishing risks, particularly relevant as phishing attacks continue to pose significant cybersecurity challenges globally.

The integrated approach of combining hardware authenticators with management software represents a significant advancement in enterprise authentication solutions, providing organizations with the tools needed to implement and maintain FIDO-based security measures at scale. The launch follows similar enterprise-focused developments in the industry, including recent enterprise passkey management solutions from other major security providers.
