Indicio Introduces Wallet-Based Passport Verification for AI Travel Chats

Indicio has rolled out Proven AI for Digital Travel, positioning the product as a way for travel companies to verify a passenger’s digital passport inside chatbot and AI-assistant conversations.

Rather than asking users to repeatedly type personal details into chat windows, the flow centers on a wallet-held Digital Travel Credential (DTC). At the start of a conversation, the AI service can request credential presentation and validate authenticity before moving forward with itinerary changes, service requests, or account-specific support.

The company describes the model as cryptographic verification of a portable credential, with no requirement to ping a central database for every check. In practical terms, that architecture is aimed at reducing friction for travelers while giving airlines, airports, and travel platforms stronger confidence that the person in session is the legitimate credential holder.

Indicio also frames the launch as a trust-and-safety control for agentic travel experiences. The company says the same verification layer can help travelers confirm they are interacting with a legitimate service endpoint, an issue that becomes more important as AI travel assistants and copilots handle higher-value transactions.

The announcement links the credential model to ICAO-aligned digital travel concepts and broader verifiable-credential standards. If adopted at scale, it would shift travel identity checks from manual data entry toward consented credential exchange that can be reused across multiple travel touchpoints.

For mobile identity stakeholders, the key signal is where verification occurs: in-channel, during the live chat session, using a user-controlled wallet credential rather than static profile fields. That could make conversational interfaces more viable for identity-sensitive travel workflows.
