Proximus Global has unveiled Konera, its new global network API aggregation platform, at the Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai. The platform creates a unified API ecosystem connecting mobile operators, enterprises, and developers to support fintech innovation. The launch follows Proximus Group’s strategic merger of BICS, Telesign, and Route Mobile to form the Proximus Global entity.
Konera’s unified API ecosystem aggregates APIs from multiple mobile network operators (MNOs), enabling enterprises and developers to integrate communications features more efficiently across global markets. The platform supports the GSMA’s CAMARA standardization initiative, which works to standardize APIs across different networks. The standardization effort has shown success through initiatives like recent deployments by French mobile operators for anti-fraud measures.
The platform builds upon Telesign’s MNO Phone ID and intelligence API services while leveraging relationships with over 300 MNOs through BICS. The combined capabilities enhance Konera’s reach across India and other international markets, particularly significant given India’s rapid adoption of digital identity and authentication solutions.
“India’s digital economy is growing rapidly, supported by a strong developer ecosystem and increasing demand for interoperable solutions,” said Rajdip Gupta, Managing Director & CEO of Route Mobile, a Proximus Global company. “Konera is designed to help operators explore new monetization models and make integration simpler for enterprises.”
The platform marks a strategic development in commercializing network APIs, particularly within the fintech sector. Following successful implementations like Telefónica’s SMS-free phone authentication system, Konera aims to simplify integration processes while providing broader coverage for enterprises and developers worldwide. The approach matches the growing industry trend toward standardized, secure authentication methods that reduce reliance on traditional SMS-based verification.
