Veriff’s Full Auto Identity Verification solution, a mobile-first document and selfie verification product used by banks, marketplaces, and gig economy platforms, has earned FIDO Alliance Document Authenticity Certification, becoming one of the first identity verification providers to clear third-party validation under the FIDO DocAuth framework.
The evaluation tested Veriff’s smartphone-driven capture and verification pipeline, which asks users to photograph a government-issued ID with their phone and then submit a selfie for face matching. Ingenium Biometric Laboratories, a FIDO-accredited UK testing lab that also carries ISO/IEC 17025, 19795, 30107, and CEN TS 18099:2025 accreditations, ran the assessment across 19 document types from 12 countries, including passports, driver’s licenses, and national ID cards from Brazil, Mexico, India, the UK, and the US. The tests confirmed the product can authenticate identity documents, match IDs against live selfies, and resist forgery and face-morphing attacks without any human reviewer in the loop.

The certification builds on the foundation established when FIDO launched its certification program for face-based remote IDV, and follows other mobile IDV players down the FIDO pathway, including InVerid, which joined the FIDO Alliance to advance NFC document authentication standards. NFC-based passport reading via smartphone is one of the pillars of modern mobile IDV alongside camera-based document capture.
