Autopay Launches Poland's First Palm-Authentication Payment System 'HandGo'

Polish fintech company Autopay has introduced HandGo, marking the country’s first palm-authentication shopping system that enables transactions without external payment devices while maintaining biometric security measures. The launch follows a growing trend of palm-based biometric payment solutions, including implementations at educational institutions and retail locations globally.

The HandGo system uses specialized scanners in place of traditional payment terminals. Customers complete transactions by having their palm scanned for authentication, after which the system processes payment through their pre-selected card in the Autopay mobile application. The approach builds on recent innovations in palm recognition technology, which has seen significant advancement through solutions like Innovatrics’ mobile palm scanning capabilities.

Palm scanning technology serves as a biometric identity verification method, though it does not directly authorize payments. The system works in conjunction with the Autopay app to execute transactions, creating a payment process that eliminates the need for physical cards or mobile devices. The implementation matches broader European efforts to modernize payment systems, as demonstrated by recent EU initiatives to develop independent payment infrastructure.

Autopay has developed this technology primarily for sectors where transaction speed and convenience are paramount, such as wellness centers and sports facilities. The system’s security architecture leverages the unique characteristics of individual palm prints, which offer protection against duplication or loss associated with conventional payment methods. Palm biometrics have gained traction in recent years due to their high accuracy and non-invasive nature.

“At Autopay, we are creating a modern ecosystem of fintech tools designed to meet the needs of businesses and retail customers. For years, we have marked our presence wherever the future is being shaped. Our mission is to provide secure, quick and convenient solutions for our customers. HandGo by Autopay is yet another step in this direction,” said an Autopay representative.

The HandGo implementation represents the latest development in Autopay’s broader initiative to optimize daily transactions and reduce friction in financial interactions. The launch establishes Poland’s first deployment of shopping technology authenticated by palm biometrics, adding to the country’s growing adoption of innovative payment solutions, following other implementations like Paymento’s biometric onboarding systems.
