certSIGN and Lissi Join Forces to Bring EUDI Wallet to Romania

Three large European Union flags waving in the wind against a bright sky, symbolizing the unity and cooperation among the member nations of the EU.

Romanian qualified trust service provider certSIGN has entered a strategic partnership with German digital identity company Lissi to accelerate adoption of the European Digital Identity Wallet in Romania, combining PKI infrastructure with a dedicated wallet connector to lower the barrier for organizations seeking eIDAS 2.0 compliance.

The partnership pairs certSIGN’s established role in Romania’s PKI and electronic signature ecosystem with Lissi’s EUDI Wallet Connector API. Together, the companies aim to help Romanian public and private sector organizations move from regulatory preparation to live EUDI Wallet deployments without requiring significant changes to existing IT infrastructure.

The joint offering supports a range of EUDI Wallet use cases: wallet-based identification, credential verification, strong customer authentication, and qualified electronic signatures. certSIGN is hosting a sandbox environment available to third parties for testing wallet integrations, and the two companies have already demonstrated KYC processes for banking, loan applications, and qualified electronic signature workflows for credit approvals.

certSIGN holds qualified trust service provider status under eIDAS, positioning it as a natural anchor for Romania’s digital identity infrastructure as the country prepares for the Romanian Digital Wallet rollout. The Lissi partnership extends that role into the wallet layer, bridging legacy PKI capabilities with the emerging EUDI Wallet ecosystem.

Both companies said they are working toward interoperability with wallets from other EU member states, supporting the cross-border digital identity verification that lies at the heart of the eIDAS 2.0 framework. The EUDI Wallet is gaining momentum across Europe, with Germany separately proposing its use as a mandatory age gate for social media platforms.
