PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) and IPification have partnered to bring network-native identity verification to more than 40 mobile networks, launching a service that authenticates users silently via IP address rather than through SMS codes or additional authentication applications.
The product, Telin Mobile Network Verification, was announced via PRNewswire on February 24, 2026. It uses IPification’s patented technology to verify a user’s phone number, SIM card, and device in a single background operation triggered by a user’s consent tap. The approach replaces the code-delivery step of SMS OTP entirely, removing the delay and the attack surface that come with it.
SMS one-time passwords remain the most common second factor in digital services, but they carry well-understood weaknesses: codes can be intercepted through SIM swap fraud, phishing pages that proxy real-time OTP entry, and SS7 protocol exploits. By grounding verification in network-layer signals rather than a code transmitted over a messaging channel, Telin MNV shifts the trust anchor from something the user receives to something the network knows.
A technically significant element of the launch is support for GSMA’s TS.43 standard, which extends the authentication flow to Android users on Wi-Fi connections without requiring them to switch to mobile data. This matters for over-the-top application developers and mobile operators alike: it removes a common drop-off point in mobile authentication and makes network-level verification viable across a wider range of connection states.
The service follows a commercial launch with Telkomsel in Indonesia and is positioned as a revenue opportunity for mobile operators, who can package their network intelligence as API services rather than treating it as internal infrastructure.
