India’s Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issued a cluster of memoranda and circulars posted January 1–2, 2026 that touch on Aadhaar PVC card pricing, physical card features, and enforcement around Aadhaar branding. The updates sit alongside broader work across the Aadhaar ecosystem.
The most immediate operational change is the fee charged for ordering an Aadhaar PVC Card. In an office memorandum dated January 1, 2026, UIDAI set the service rate at ₹75, up from ₹50, and its public FAQ pages describe the ₹75 amount as inclusive of GST and Speed Post delivery charges for orders placed through UIDAI channels from January 1 onward.
UIDAI also published a circular discontinuing the hologram previously used on Aadhaar PVC Cards. The circular indicates that cards produced under UIDAI’s "Order Aadhaar PVC Card" service will be issued without the hologram going forward. Although the document itself is dated October 17, 2025, it appeared on UIDAI’s circulars page in the January 1–2, 2026 publication window.
The hologram removal appears to be a change to the optional card product rather than a shift in Aadhaar’s broader security framework, as UIDAI continues to emphasize QR-based and digital verification approaches for Aadhaar use cases.
Separately, UIDAI posted a January 2, 2026 circular titled "Prevention of Unauthorized use of Aadhaar name & logo," signaling renewed compliance attention around third-party misuse of Aadhaar branding.
